The hotel had a lovely view of Lake Michigan and was a perfect starting point to explore the boardwalk into downtown. The friendly service made us feel very welcome, but the outdated appearance and high cost were off-putting. The dining options were not ideal, with limited choices and the absence of some items. The large beach for relaxation was a plus, but overall, it fell short of justifying the expense for a brief stay.

Rooms
7.0
Our room met our expectations and was very quiet, with the sound of the lake waves just an open porch door away. Although not huge, it was plenty big for the two of us. However, there was an issue with the room not matching the online reservation, and the sheets did not fit the bed.
Service
8.0
The service was sincerely friendly and most welcoming, making us feel at ease. However, the absence of staff in the morning to assist with requests was noted.
Location
6.0
Overlooking Lake Michigan, the location was the best part of this very outdated motel. It was perfect for walking along the boardwalk into downtown and offered a pleasant beach for relaxing. While the proximity to Door County beaches and bayside shops was convenient, the overall state of the premises did not fully justify the cost, especially on hot summer weekends.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was lacking, with pre-packaged sweet rolls and subpar meal options. Service issues were also noted, with items missing on the second morning of our stay before early departure.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were bleak, with room for improvement. The presence of soup was a small positive aspect amidst the other disappointments.

5.8/10

The hotel had clean and roomy rooms with comfortable beds, but the second-floor location made it challenging for carrying fishing gear up and down the stairs. The service was friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient for exploring Algoma and Door County. However, the outdated appearance of the motel was a downside.

Rooms
7.0
The 2 queen size beds looked old and dirty but were surprisingly clean and comfortable, though the room had a dingy feel.
Service
9.0
The staff was very kind, friendly, courteous, and helpful, making our stay enjoyable.
Location
6.0
The hotel's location was a mix of very nice with a balcony view of the beach and a convenient walk to downtown, but the motel itself felt uncared for.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was subpar with late and not very fresh options like oatmeal packets and packaged cinnamon rolls.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities seemed to lack upkeep and attention, giving off a flop house vibe.

7.0/10

The hotel was right by a charming lake, a perfect walk to downtown along the beach, with inviting sand beaches and lovely views of Lake Michigan. However, the room's heavy smell of smoke and sewer made it feel like a flop house to me. The service was exceptional, offering a treasure trove of information and being very accommodating. The location was splendid for exploring the area without the busyness, but the dated decor and food odors could be off-putting.

Rooms
5.0
The room was smoke-free but unfortunately had a strong smell of smoke and sewer, making it less than ideal.
Service
9.0
The service was top-notch, with friendly and helpful staff providing a wealth of information and being very accommodating.
Location
8.0
The location was ideal for strolling along the scenic boardwalk into downtown, with beautiful views of Lake Michigan and easy access to nearby attractions.
Dining
6.0
The dining options were limited to pre-packaged items, which might not suit everyone's taste.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were decent overall but nothing extraordinary.
